French Quarter Fest Traffic & Parking Impacts

Events associated with the 2019 French Quarter Fest will take place in New Orleans Thursday, Apr. 11, 2019 through Sunday, Apr. 14, 2019. For more information, visit the festival's website at frenchquarterfest.org. As always, residents are asked to take care in large crowds and to report suspicious activity to public safety officials.

Traffic Restrictions

Residents and visitors should expect heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the Central Business District, French Quarter, and Marigny throughout the French Quarter Fest events. The New Orleans Police Department will restrict vehicular traffic in and around the French Quarter as follows, and additional intermittent street closures might be required as crowd size warrants.

VEHICLes LIMITED TO RESIDENTS, EMPLOYEES, HOTEL GUESTS & TAXIS

Thursday – Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. 

• Entering the French Quarter within the perimeter of Canal St., Decatur St., Dumaine St., and Rampart St. 

NO VEHICLes ALLOWED 

Overnight Thursday – Sunday, 4:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. 

• Bourbon St. from Canal St. to Dumaine St.
• 700-800 blocks of St. Ann St., Orleans Ave., St. Peter St., Toulouse St., St. Louis St., Conti St., Bienville St., and Iberville St.

Parking Impacts

There will be many designated No-Parking Zones associated with the festival in the French Quarter, including those listed in the map below, which will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to Midnight Thursday through Sunday.

Pay close attention to posted signs. Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking. 

• Don't block hydrants, driveways and sidewalks.
• Don't park within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection, or stop sign.
• Park in the direction of travel on one-way streets and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

Transportation Impacts & Tips for Getting There

Consider using alternatives to driving, including RTA public transportation, taxis, transportation network companies (Uber, Lyft), or Blue Bikes. The following RTA routes may experience delays or detours during the event:

• Canal Streetcar
