Trash and Recycling Collections Canceled for Wednesday, September 11

The City of New Orleans has canceled trash and recycling collections for Wednesday, September 11 due to the forecasted impacts of Tropical Storm Francine.  Trash and recycling collections will run a day behind schedule for the remainder of the week.

City Hall Closure

Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the protection of life and property, the City of New Orleans and all of its administrative operations will close on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 a.m. due to severe weather expected across the New Orleans area with conditions rapidly worsening. This closure will continue through Thursday, Sept. 12.

NOLA Public Schools to Close Wednesday & Thursday Ahead of Tropical Storm Francine

NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) has announced that all schools and the Central Office will be closed on Wednesday, September 11, and Thursday, September 12, as a precautionary measure ahead of Tropical Storm Francine's expected landfall.

City of New Orleans Announces Preparations Ahead of Tropical Storm Francine

Mayor LaToya Cantrell today was joined by members of the New Orleans City Council, New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) Director Collin Arnold, other emergency preparedness agencies and tourism industry leaders to update residents on the developments and preparations ahead of Tropical Storm Francine.

City of New Orleans Announces Emergency Cooling Centers Available for Residents to Stay Cool Amid Excessive Heat

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the New Orleans area will likely experience dangerously high temperatures this weekend. NWS has forecasted potential heat advisories due to a combination of heat and humidity that could lead to daytime high heat index values, or “feels like” temperatures, of 108 to 111 degrees from Saturday, Aug. 17 to Sunday, Aug. 18.

City of New Orleans Announces Emergency Cooling Centers Available for Residents to Stay Cool Amid Excessive Heat

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the New Orleans area is experiencing dangerously high temperatures this week. NWS has issued a heat advisory, and additional heat-related advisories and warnings are likely. A combination of heat and humidity could lead to daytime high heat index values, or “feels like” temperatures, of 110 to 115 degrees between Monday, Aug. 5 to Friday, Aug. 9.

New Orleans City Hall to Close on Wednesday, April 10 in Anticipation of Inclement Weather

The City of New Orleans today announced that in anticipation of severe weather impacting New Orleans and the surround areas, City Hall and other City buildings will be closed to the public on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.  City services will remain open virtually. City Hall will resume normal operations on Thursday, April 11, unless otherwise indicated.

High rainfall rates of 4-6 inches/hour and associated localized flooding are also a concern.  Neutral ground parking restrictions in Orleans Parish will be lifted on Wednesday, April 10 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

City of New Orleans to Activate Citywide Freeze Plan from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22

The City of New Orleans announced today that they will activate a citywide freeze plan in anticipation of the extreme winter weather expected to bring dangerously low temperatures below freezing starting tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts that there will be 5 to 10 hours at or below freezing for areas along and south of I-10/I-12 on Saturday, Jan. 20 and 2 to 7 hours at or below freezing for the south shore on Sunday, Jan. 21. At the lowest, temperatures could drop into the high 20s and low 30s.

New Orleans City Hall to Reopen at Noon on Wednesday, January 17

The City of New Orleans today announced that City Hall and other City buildings will be reopened to the public at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.  City Hall will resume normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 18, unless otherwise indicated. Trash collection is scheduled to continue normal operations.
