Utility assistance program

Effective September 15, 2021, the Office of Housing Policy and Community Development will begin accepting applications for assistance with utility payments through the U.S. Treasury funded Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).  The ERAP was created to help renters dealing with financial challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic. For eligible households, the program offers rental and utility assistance to help tenants avoid eviction or loss of utility service which could lead to eviction.

To be eligible for utility assistance, you must meet the following criteria:

• Applied and found eligible for the New Orleans Emergency Rental Assistance Program
• Have past due utility bills that are no earlier than March 13, 2020.
