The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, in consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health, has canceled the precautionary boil water advisory for residents and businesses in the Lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans East after bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area was safe to drink and could be used for personal needs.

The precautionary boil water advisory for all of the Lower Ninth Ward and the area of New Orleans East from I-10 to Lake Pontchartrain and from Bullard Avenue to Paris Road is still in effect. Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans, in consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health, is testing water quality samples, which may take up to 24 hours to achieve results.

The Sewerage & Water Board issued a precautionary boil water advisory for all of the Lower Ninth Ward and the area of New Orleans East from I-10 to Lake Pontchartrain and from Bullard Avenue to Paris Road due to a drop in water pressure. Boil water before consuming. For more information, visit swbno.org.
