Flash Flood Watch Canceled, City to Reinstate Parking Restrictions

As Tropical Storm Beta moves inland over Texas, the threat to the New Orleans metro area has greatly diminished. The National Weather Service has canceled the Flash Flood Watch and Wind Advisory for Orleans Parish; however, a Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for areas outside of the levee system, where coastal flooding is expected to continue.

Residents Encouraged to be Weather Aware, Flash Flood Watch in Effect

The City of New Orleans continues to monitor Tropical Storm Beta, which could bring heavy rain to the New Orleans area. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Wednesday evening, along with a Wind Advisory and Coastal Flood Warning. Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware and to be ready to stay indoors and off the roads in the event of heavy rain.

City of New Orleans Monitors Tropical Storm Beta

The New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is monitoring Tropical Storm Beta, which is currently forecast to move slowly westward and begin turning northeastward mid-week. Beta’s track and intensity remain uncertain, but regardless, prolonged rain today through next week is forecast in New Orleans. Additionally, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for areas outside of the levee system.
