Tropical Storm Marco Weakens, Impacts Expected Today and Tonight

The latest update from the National Hurricane Center shows steady weakening of Tropical Storm Marco with a forecast track still taking the system toward the Southeast Louisiana coastline. Impacts are still very possible across the area today and tonight.  Heavy rain could result in isolated flash flooding across the area. Storm surge/coastal flooding will be possible for coastal areas. Gusty winds could blow around loose objects and result in isolated power outages. Impacts from Marco could make preparations for Tropical Storm Laura more difficult.

There have been no major changes with the latest forecast update for Tropical Storm Laura, which could bring impacts to the area Wednesday and Thursday. Some coastal flooding issues can be expected along the Southeast Louisiana coast. Windy conditions and a threat of tornadoes will also be in play. Locally heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, especially where any banding results in heavy rain for an extended period. Preparations for Laura could be more difficult if there are lingering impacts from Tropical Storm Marco.
