We're enhancing NOLA Ready to improve public safety.
NOLA Ready is now powered by Rave Alerts instead of Everbridge, the former alert vendor. With Rave, you can sign up for NOLA Ready alerts and simultaneously create a Smart911 profile so that 9-1-1 operators and first responders can better help you during an emergency.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to 77295 to cancel messages. For additional support, text INFO or HELP to 77295 at any time. For full terms and conditions, visit https://getrave.com/help/Terms.action
Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
What phone number will alerts come from?
In RAVE, alerts will come from multiple numbers, including: 77295, 67283, 78015, 81437, and 226787. For convenience, we recommend saving these numbers in one contact on your phone, so that emergency alerts are received in one text thread.
What kind of information is shared in alerts?
When you create a profile, you can choose what kinds of alerts you would like to receive. That includes:
- Emergency alerts, including severe weather, boil water advisories, hazardous material incidents, public safety incidents, and storm preparedness.
- COVID updates, including info on vaccines, restrictions, and resources.
- Road work alerts, including when work will require major closures, water shutoffs, or other significant impacts.
- Mardi Gras updates, including parades routes, traffic, weather, safety, and resources on the route.
- Special event and traffic updates, including marathons and races, second lines, and other festivals throughout the year.
Plus, with Rave, you can also simultaneously subscribe to alerts from the Governor's Office, Louisiana Department of Health, and other State agencies.
Will I get National Weather Service alerts?
If you sign up with the keyword NOLAREADY, you will receive severe thunderstorm, flash flood, tornado, tropical storm, and hurricane warnings when issued by the National Weather Service. If you would like to receive more specific weather alerts, we encourage you to use a service such as AccuWeather.
How will 9-1-1 operators and first responders use the information I provide in my profile?
When you provide information about your household, family members, pets, and medical information, 9-1-1 operators and first responders will be better able to assist you in the event of an emergency. To protect your privacy, your information is only available to 9-1-1 and first responders when you, or someone connected to your profile, dial 9-1-1. The information is available for only 45 minutes from the time you dial 9-1-1.
In addition to being available in numerous parishes across the state, Smart911 is a national service, meaning that your information is available during a 9-1-1 call anywhere you are traveling if that local 9-1-1 center also uses the service.
Is there a cost for subscribing?
This service is provided by the City of New Orleans at no cost to the public; however, message and data rates may apply depending on your provider and phone services. This service is provided per the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Will my information be disclosed or shared?
No, your information is private and will not be used or distributed in any manner. The information that you provide is exempt from public disclosure and will be used for emergency purposes only.
How can I unsubscribe?
Text STOP to 77295 or manage your subscriptions in smart911.
