Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Watches Issued

The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for our area, which means that tropical-storm-force winds (winds between 39 to 73 miles per hour) will be possible from Hurricane Delta. The most likely arrival time of winds is Friday morning.

A Storm Surge Watch is also in effect for areas outside the levee system, with four to six feet of storm surge possible in Venetian Isles, Lake Catherine, and Irish Bayou. For this reason, the City is issuing a voluntary evacuation order for these areas. Residents should leave by 6pm Thursday evening. Three to five feet of surge is possible in Lake Pontchartrain.
