Statement from the City of New Orleans on Hurricane Helene and Response Efforts
NEW ORLEANS –The City of New Orleans is coming together to support our neighbors and communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by this devastating storm.
In response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene, the City of New Orleans is sending six members of our New Orleans Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) team to Spartanburg County, South Carolina to assist their Emergency Operations Centers. This team will provide support and aid in the aftermath of the hurricane, helping families and communities recover from the destruction left behind.
The remaining members of NOHSEP’s team here in New Orleans will maintain a state of readiness, ensuring that we are prepared for any potential tropical disturbances that may threaten our city. We are committed to keeping our community safe and will continue to monitor potential threats.
“Our hearts go out to everyone that’s been affected by Hurricane Helene,” said NOHSEP Director, Collin Arnold. “We will always strive to help our neighbors in need because we have been the beneficiary of the same service. If we can use our considerable experience working in disasters to assist others, it benefits us all.”
