The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for the Lower 9th Ward. Bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area is safe to drink and can be used for personal needs.
 
Residents are advised to flush their internal and external plumbing by running water through their system for several minutes.

The precautionary boil water advisory for the Lower 9th Ward remains in effect. Water sampling began overnight. The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB), in consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health, is currently testing water samples.
