Jan 15-22 Extreme Winter Weather Updates

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts that there will be 5 to 10 hours at or below freezing for areas along and south of I-10/I-12 on Saturday, Jan. 20 and 2 to 7 hours at or below freezing for the south shore on Sunday, Jan. 21. At the lowest, temperatures could drop into the high 20s and low 30s.

City of New Orleans to Activate Citywide Freeze Plan from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22

The City of New Orleans announced today that they will activate a citywide freeze plan in anticipation of the extreme winter weather expected to bring dangerously low temperatures below freezing starting tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts that there will be 5 to 10 hours at or below freezing for areas along and south of I-10/I-12 on Saturday, Jan. 20 and 2 to 7 hours at or below freezing for the south shore on Sunday, Jan. 21. At the lowest, temperatures could drop into the high 20s and low 30s.

New Orleans City Hall to Reopen at Noon on Wednesday, January 17

The City of New Orleans today announced that City Hall and other City buildings will be reopened to the public at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.  City Hall will resume normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 18, unless otherwise indicated. Trash collection is scheduled to continue normal operations.

New Orleans City Hall Closed to Public in Anticipation of Inclement Winter Weather

The City of New Orleans today announced that in anticipation of inclement winter weather impacting New Orleans and surrounding areas, City Hall and other City buildings will be closed to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 16. City services will remain open virtually. At this time, City Hall will resume normal operations on Wednesday, Jan. 17, unless otherwise indicated.

Jan 15-18 Extreme Winter Weather Expected

According to the National Weather Service, prolonged cold temperatures are expected from Monday night, January 15th, through Wednesday, January 17th.  Confidence is high that there will be several days next week of freezing temperatures with hard freeze possible on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. There is no forecasted frozen precipitation for the entire area at this time.
