The City of New Orleans today provided an update on plans to demolish the Hard Rock Hotel after it collapsed mid-construction on Oct. 12, 2019. The property owner, 1031 Canal Development LLC, has executed a contract with Kolb Grading LLC and its affiliate, Dem/Tech, for the implosion of the building — an approach that multiple engineers agree to be the safest demolition method in this situation.

Today, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will offer low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses economically impacted by the Hard Rock Hotel collapse and related evacuation and street closures. 

The City of New Orleans continues emergency operations at the site of the Hard Rock Hotel construction collapse. Sunday's controlled demolition of the two unstable cranes at the construction site was successful. The structure is significantly more stable at this point. The City is working with the property owner to continue to secure the site and begin the demolition process. 

The evacuation zone has been reduced. Individuals not in the red zone are allowed to return. Individuals in the red zone must remain evacuated. Text HARDROCK to 888777 for updates on evacuation.
