Due to engineering assessments of the site of the partial collapse at the Hard Rock Hotel, the New Orleans Fire Department is calling for a slightly expanded evacuation area. The evacuation area will now include the buildings on the Uptown side of Canal Street from Elk Place to Burgundy Street.

Evacuation area: Uptown side of Bienville, river side of Basin, Uptown side of Canal and lake side of Burgundy. If you are in this area, please evacuate immediately. 

Mayor LaToya Cantrell this morning continued to update residents on the progress of response efforts by the City’s public safety agencies to the partial collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel building under construction in the downtown area.

Monday will begin the start of the business week with major road closures in the downtown area as well as adjustments to public transportation service. We want people to heed all traffic precautions that we have put out as we stabilize this area.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell joined public safety officials Sunday morning to provide the most recent updates in the response to the partial collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel building under construction in the downtown area of the city. Two people are confirmed dead with one other person unaccounted for.
