Residents Encouraged to Take Precautions During High Wind Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning including Orleans Parish through 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21. Winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour with higher gusts possible are anticipated this afternoon through Friday morning. The greatest impact will be along the coasts of Lake Pontchartrain. Additionally, coastal waters will likely have dangerous gale conditions.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions ahead of strong winds:

• Bring outdoor furniture and decorations inside.
• Secure or bring garbage bins inside.
• Be careful driving, especially on elevated roadways.
• Prepare for potential power outages.
