Hurricane Irma Now Inland, Minimal Local Impacts

Hurricane Irma made landfall Saturday in Florida and is now moving north-northwest through central Florida. Irma has been downgraded to a tropical storm and will track into western Tennessee by Tuesday night. A coastal flood advisory, including the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, is in effect as tides are expected to be one to two feet above normal. Otherwise, no local impacts from Irma are expected.

Residents are reminded that we are in the peak of hurricane season. Now is the time to revisit family emergency plans and to gather supplies. Read more about hurricane preparedness.
