The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain and potentially severe thunderstorms across Southeast Louisiana, including the New Orleans area, Thursday, Dec. 27 and 28. A flash flood watch is in effect Thursday morning through 12 p.m. Friday.

Tornado Watch Expires, Flash Flood Watch Remains in Effect

The tornado watch for the New Orleans area has expired. The threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes has diminished. However, the Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the area through 12 p.m. Friday morning. Heavy rain this evening and overnight could cause street flooding. Continue to stay weather aware and use caution using heavy rain.

Tornado Watch Issued, Flash Flood Watch Remains in Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the New Orleans area, until 6 p.m. That means severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are possible. The flash flood watch remains in effect. Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware and to review storm preparedness.

Residents Encouraged to Take Precautions During Flash Flood Watch

The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain and potentially severe thunderstorms across Southeast Louisiana, including the New Orleans area, tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 27. A flash flood watch will be in effect Thursday morning through late Thursday night. Two to four inches of rain is anticipated across the region, with locally higher amounts possible.
