On Saturday, Sept, 11, 2021, the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation will host a recycling drop-off event at the City’s Recycling Drop-Off Center, located at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave., from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

City of New Orleans Continues Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts

Today, the City of New Orleans updated residents on Hurricane Ida response and recovery efforts. City resources are beginning to wind down as Entergy restores more power to homes and businesses. Cooling centers will close at 6 p.m. today and NORD recreation centers will return to normal operations. FEMA representatives will be available to assist residents with disaster claims Monday through Friday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) next week at Milne, Rosenwald, Cut Off, and Joe Brown recreation centers next week.

District "B" Councilmember Jay H. Banks is partnering with Louisiana State Senator Karen Carter Peterson (District 5), Louisiana State Representative Royce Duplessis (District 93), Pastor Emanuel Smith of Israelite Baptist Church, Improved Benevolent Protective Order Elks of the World Greater New Orleans CYW Temple #185, and Church of Living God Resurrection (Waveland, MS) to distribute cleaning supplies, water, diapers, and tarps by request on Friday, September 10 at 1 PM at Israelite Baptist Church.

RTA restores streetcar service along Canal line

Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority announced the restoration of streetcar service along the Canal Streetcar line. Beginning Friday, September 10 at 5:45 a.m., streetcar service will run along the 47-Canal/Cemeteries and 48-Canal/City Park until midnight daily. In addition, the agency will also extend operating hours on all bus and streetcar routes to midnight. The service hours extension includes the 12-St. Charles which continues to operate bus service along the line.

City of New Orleans Continues Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts

Today, the City of New Orleans updated residents on Hurricane Ida response and recovery efforts. As Entergy restores more power across the city, community resources, such as our cooling sites, are reducing this weekend. With only approximately 4,000 customers without power, Entergy expects to have those restored by late evening tomorrow, Sept. 10 if they are able to receive it.

Entergy’s Storm Team Makes Significant Progress Following Ida

After 10 days of restoration work following Hurricane Ida’s path of destruction, Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana employees have restored power to 90% of customers in the greater New Orleans and Greater Baton Rouge areas. These areas include Ascension, Iberville, East and West Bank of Jefferson and Orleans parishes.
