NOLA Public Schools to be closed Monday, Nov. 2 Due to Storm Disruptions

NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) announced the cancellation of all distance learning and in-person classes for Monday, November 2, due to ongoing power outages across New Orleans, loss of food due to lack of refrigeration, as well as unstable internet and phone service. This decision includes the cancellation of food services for families on Monday as well.

City of New Orleans Provides Update on Hurricane Zeta Clean Up and Recovery Efforts

Today, the City of New Orleans provided an update on a phased-approach for cleanup and recovery efforts following Hurricane Zeta, which includes garbage and recycling collection; roadway, park and playground cleanup; as well as emergency debris removal. Public safety is our priority; residents are reminded to use extreme caution around debris and to report downed trees or limbs in the public right-of-way to 311.

Community power stations are open to the public still without power from Hurricane Zeta. Community power stations are places to charge your devices and/or access wi-fi while the power’s out. In the spirit of mutual aid, the stations are hosted on a volunteer basis by neighbors, organizations, and businesses across the greater New Orleans area.

RTA Hurricane Zeta Transit Service Updates

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority continues to restore transit service in the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta. Additional transit services may come online as power is restored and roadways are cleared.

Please note that evening transit service may be suspended early on transit lines if power to traffic signals and lights are not restored. Commuters and riders are encouraged to call the Rideline at 504-248-3900 for up-to-date information and point-to-point travel assistance or download RTA GoMobile from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
