Morris Jeff Community School officials have announced the school will be closed Monday, August 7 due to water that remains inside the basement levels of the school. School will begin Tuesday, August 8 at 8:00 am, unless otherwise instructed. No other school closures have been reported at this time.

Today, the City of New Orleans released the following Saturday's no-notice severe weather and flooding. As much as 8 to 10 inches of rain fell in isolated areas of the city within three to four hours. 

Heavy rains caused flooding across New Orleans yesterday, Saturday, Aug. 5. If your property was damaged, contact your insurer, document the damage, and clean up safely.

According to the National Weather Service, the City of New Orleans may continue to experience severe weather and heavy rainfall today, August 5, 2017. Public safety is our top priority, so we are advising residents to monitor weather conditions and stay alert. New Orleans is under a Flash Flood Warning until 8 p.m. on August 5, 2017, and a Flood Advisory until 8 p.m. August 5, 2017.
