Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Lower 9th Ward

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for the Lower 9th Ward. Bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area is safe to drink and can be used for personal needs.
 
Residents are advised to flush their internal and external plumbing by running water through their system for several minutes.

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Remains in Effect

The precautionary boil water advisory for the Lower 9th Ward remains in effect. Water sampling began overnight. The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB), in consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health, is currently testing water samples. S&WB will notify residents and businesses when the boil water advisory is canceled. More: swbno.org

The National Weather Service has cancelled the Storm Surge Warning, Tropical Storm Warning, Flash Flood Watch, and Coastal Flood Advisory for Orleans Parish. We no longer anticipate severe impacts from Tropical Storm Gordon.

Mayor Cantrell Orders City Hall Open Tomorrow for Half-Day, Responding to Improved Outlook

Mayor LaToya Cantrell tonight ordered that City Hall and all City government offices be opened for a half-day tomorrow, Wednesday, September 5th. The decision was made in response to an improved outlook relative to the potential weather impacts of TS Gordon. City Hall and City government offices, to include NORDC and the NOPL, are ordered open beginning at noon on Wednesday.

Trash and recycling collection will continue as scheduled today (Tuesday). Sanitation will provide an update today for Wednesday, based on the updated weather forecast. However, service will NOT be provided Wednesday for areas outside the levee system.
